Holiday season is upon us at the Bookmark Bookstore, where we're hosting our next Monthly Member Sale on Saturday, December 20. Members receive 50% off on Saturday from 11AM-6PM; everyone receives 30% off on Sunday, December 21 from 11AM-5PM. Snag stocking stuffers and upcycled treasures for the bibliophile, cinephile, puzzler, or music afficionado in your life. Merry Happy Everything!
Want a unique way to share your love of libraries this season? Give the gift of Membership with the Friends of the Oakland Public Library! Members receive 20% off at the Bookmark all year, plus 50% off at monthly Member sales. Additionally, Members at the Book Friend level and higher (membership gifts of $50+) also receive discounts at participating local bookstores: Montclair Book Tree, Pegasus Books, Spectator Books, Dan Webb Books, Womb House Books, and Walden Pond.
This December, we're excited about our in-store staff picks and our curation of all things holiday -- from cookbooks to children's stories to greeting cards and more. Plus, browse our crate of "Surprise Me" pre-wrapped items, and take advantage of our gift-wrapping service on select days at the shop for a suggested donation of $1 per item. Please note: this service is available on a pop-up basis, pending Volunteer Elf availability, and makes use of donated materials such as maps and newspapers. Happy shopping!
Looking for a specific item this month? The Department of Wish Fulfillment is open from November 28 through December 30 to help retrieve and reserve items on your wish list! Visit the shop to deposit your wish (or three!) in person, and our Volunteer Elves at Wish Fulfillment HQ will contact you if your item pops up in our inventory during the holiday season. We'll also notify you of the item's price, and we will hold your desired item for up to one week.
Please note: young participants must be at least 12 years old and accompanied by a grown-up when depositing a wish in our store's Wish Box. Additionally, we can only accept a maximum of 3 wishes per customer, and all wishes expire at the end of the calendar year (or at a specified date of your choice, whichever is sooner).

The Bookmark Bookstore is open daily, year-round -- except during specific holidays, when our volunteer elves retreat into their tiny wooden treehouses to build toys and bake things for their loved ones!
