The holiday season is upon us, which means it’s time to start gift shopping. Below are three places you can go to check off all the booklovers on your shopping list. And, best of all, all of these purchases will support the Oakland Public Library!

1) Bookmark Bookstore

You are bound to find something special for everyone on your list at The Bookmark Bookstore in Old Oakland. Choose from an incredible inventory of unique and uncommon titles, as well our large selection of CDs, LPs, puzzles, games, and even holiday cards. Do the hunting yourself or give the gift of a treasure hunt to someone else with a Bookmark gift certificate.

Couldn’t find what you were looking for at the bookstore? Shop

The Bookmark Bookstore Bookshop on bookshop.org for an inventory of titles as broad ranging as Amazon. Bookshop.org gift certificates also make a wonderful stocking stuffer. Speaking of Amazon, you can also find some unique gifts and collectables at our Amazon and Ebay stores.

3) Small Business Saturday Market

Sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Small Business Saturday celebrates breaking away from all the big box stores and online shopping hype to support local small businesses. The Old Oakland neighborhood where our own small business, The Bookmark Bookstore, is located will celebrate with a Small Business Saturday Market taking place along 9th Street between Clay Street and Broadway on Saturday, November 26 from 11:30am – 5:00pm.


Shop for unique gifts from local artists and vendors, plus enjoy food and live music. Visit the Friends of the OPL table and then head on over to the bookstore just a block away for even more great holiday shopping!
