It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to two of our esteemed board members. These two individuals have been a valuable asset to Friends of OPL, and their contributions will be greatly missed.
We want to take a moment to express our gratitude for all the hard work and dedication they have put into making our libraries a better place. They have been an integral part of our team, bringing their unique perspectives and skills to the table.
The Friends board and the Bookmark Bookstore staff and volunteers will dearly miss Director Valerie Villanueva, who stepped down in January because of professional and personal demands. Valerie, who was appointed in May 2017, served as board Secretary in recent years. But her claim to Friends fame may always be her significant contributions to helping shepherd the Bookmark through the pandemic. Farewell and thank you, Valerie!
The Friends board also bids a fond farewell to Director Nick Marble, who was appointed in March 2021. Nick brought his passion for drawing, painting, creating and designing to the board’s
Development, Engagement and Communications Committee, while helping to manage the Friends’ volunteer intake process. Nick stepped down on New Year’s Eve 2022. We will miss his professionalism and humor. Best wishes, Nick!
We are grateful for the impact they have made during their time with us and wish them all the best. We know they will continue to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
Thank you for everything, and we will always remember your contributions!
