FOLLOW THE BRIGHT LIGHTS OF BROADWAY TO THE NEW BOOKMARK

After many months of searching, we have the opportunity of a lifetime to move our beloved Bookmark Bookstore to a new, expanded space at 933 Broadway (the corner of 10th & Broadway).

In 1992, the Friends opened the Bookmark in Old Oakland to serve as the face of our organization and create a constant revenue stream to benefit the Oakland Public Library. We’re delighted to say our new home will continue to be in a lovely historical building: the Delger Block, built c. 1880. (More on the Delger Block’s fascinating history in future articles!)

The new space offers us significantly more room, better visibility to the community, and the opportunity to expand our services that you have come to enjoy. We eventually will have a separate “donation center” entrance specifically dedicated to managing donations and online sales. The retail space will be more inviting and light-filled, offering a lovelier experience for visitors and volunteers alike.

While we will miss Washington St., our home for the past three decades, we’re excited to grow and to bring you our next chapter!

The Washington Street store will close May 13-31 to allow us to time pack up any

remaining inventory, clean up, and prepare the new space. We will reopen for business

in our new space in early June with a soft opening. More details about that and a grand opening celebration to come!

DONATION PAUSE STARTING APRIL 14

In preparation for our big move, we will no longer accept donations as of Sunday, April 14. We will resume accepting donations when we reopen in our new location in June.

APRIL 26–MAY 12: WE’RE MOVING SALE!

In preparation for our big move, we’re expanding our annual Spring Sale! From Friday,

April 26, to Sunday, April 28, members get first dibs and 50% off everything in the store.

From Wednesday, May 1, to Sunday, May 12, everyone gets 50% off. Please help

spread the word!
