Just in time for National Friends of Libraries Week, the Friends of the Oakland Public Library will host its annual Fall Book Sale at The Bookmark Bookstore on Friday, October 20 – Sunday, October 22, 2023. We will also have a 20% off sale on our entire eBay store inventory throughout the same three days. All proceeds benefit Oakland’s Public Libraries.
Members of the Friends of the OPL save 50% on all purchases on the first day of the sale on Friday, October 20. Membership can be purchased online here or in the store on the day of the sale ($25 per year, $15 for seniors and full-time students) to receive the discount. After the first day, all shoppers receive a discount of 30% on Saturday, October 21 and 50% on Sunday, October 22.
These discounts apply to already low prices of $3 to $8 for most of the over 18,000 items in the store. The Bookmark features gently used and donated books of general interest, CDs, LPs, comics, puzzles, and a selection of collectible books. Inventory will be refreshed daily.
This will be the first time we also run a sale on The Bookmark’s eBay online inventory in parallel with our sale at the store. A 20% off discount will apply to the over 700 unique and collectable books and media in the online store. Shoppers can also have the cost of shipping refunded if they opt to pick up their purchase from the The Bookmark Bookstore.
The Bookmark Bookstore, at 721 Washington Street in Old Oakland, is conveniently located close to AC Transit and BART (12th Street station). The store will be open 10:30am to 5:30pm each day during the sale. For more information, call (510) 444-0473 or email bookmark@fopl.org.
