Black Lives Matter

We stand with the Black community.

Who We Are

The Friends of the Oakland Public Library exists to support the Oakland Public Library and the broader Oakland community.

In addition to a Main Library, OPL has 16 branches, a Second Start Adult Literacy Program, the Oakland Tool Lending Library, and the African-American Museum and Library at Oakland (AAMLO).

With funds raised through membershipsdonations, and proceeds from our Old Oakland bookstore, The Bookmark, Friends of the OPL provides grants to OPL.

Please join us in the critical work of supporting our Oakland Libraries!
